September 2026 GatheringsTHE SHAPE OF WATER
As summer begins to soften, the light changes, the air cools, and we begin to notice the landscape differently.
This September, we’ll follow water through the Upper Midwest. across ancient rock, along rivers and shorelines, through forests and fields, and into the waters that move quietly beneath us.
Each gathering offers a different way of experiencing water and the landscapes it has shaped.

Earth Rifts Waters Carve
-
We'll spend approximately 3–4 hours kayaking along the St. Croix River, moving between Minnesota and Wisconsin and experiencing the ancient landscape from the water.
Along the way, we'll have time to notice the exposed rock, river cliffs, forest, and changing perspective that comes with moving through the landscape by kayak.
After our paddle, we'll gather for approximately an hour with snacks and time to share what we noticed, experienced, and discovered along the way.
No hiking required. This is an invitation to slow down, get on the water, and experience the landscape from a different perspective.
Please note: Each participant will be responsible for arranging and paying for their own kayak rental for this gathering.

3.5 HOUR GATHERING
-
At Maiden Rock Bluff, we’ll wander along the wooded bluff above the Mississippi River valley, noticing the way wind moves across the landscape, how elevation shifts our perspective, and how the river below has shaped this place over time.
We’ll pause along the way to take in the expansive views and consider what happens when we change our vantage point. Sometimes stepping back allows us to see something we couldn't see before.
As the landscape opens around us, we'll make room for reflection, conversation, and connection—letting the experience unfold at a slower pace.
